ㄱ — g/k와 비슷한 소리

ㄴ — n과 비슷한 소리
similar to n

ㄷ — d/t와 비슷한 소리
similar to d/t

ㄹ — r/l 사이의 소리
a sound between r and l

ㅁ — m과 비슷한 소리
similar to m

ㅂ — b/p와 비슷한 소리
similar to b/p

ㅅ — s와 비슷한 소리
similar to s

ㅇ — 음절 처음에서는 소리가 나지 않음
silent at the beginning of a syllable

영어의 g, k, d, t 같은 철자와 완전히 같은 소리라고 생각하면 안 됩니다.
Korean consonants do not match English consonants exactly. These English letters are only rough guides.

👀 비슷하게 생긴 자음 | Similar-Looking Consonants

처음에는 자음 모양이 서로 비슷해 보여 헷갈릴 수 있습니다.

At first, some consonants may look similar.

ㄱ → ㅋ

ㅋ은 ㄱ에 획이 하나 더 있습니다.
ㅋ has an extra stroke compared with ㄱ.

ㄷ → ㅌ

ㅌ은 ㄷ에 획이 하나 더 있습니다.
ㅌ has an extra stroke compared with ㄷ.

ㅂ → ㅍ

모양을 천천히 비교하며 익혀 보세요.
Compare the shapes slowly and carefully.

🧩 자음 + ㅏ | Consonant + ㅏ

자음만으로는 하나의 음절을 만들 수 없습니다.
A consonant alone does not make a full Korean syllable.

자음에 모음 ㅏ를 붙여 보겠습니다.
Let’s combine each consonant with the vowel ㅏ.

ㄱ + ㅏ = 가
ㄴ + ㅏ = 나
ㄷ + ㅏ = 다
ㄹ + ㅏ = 라
ㅁ + ㅏ = 마
ㅂ + ㅏ = 바
ㅅ + ㅏ = 사
ㅇ + ㅏ = 아
ㅈ + ㅏ = 자
ㅊ + ㅏ = 차
ㅋ + ㅏ = 카
ㅌ + ㅏ = 타
ㅍ + ㅏ = 파
ㅎ + ㅏ = 하

💡 ㅇ은 조금 특별해요 | ㅇ Is Special

ㅇ은 음절의 처음에 올 때 소리가 나지 않습니다.

When ㅇ appears at the beginning of a syllable, it is silent.

ㅇ + ㅏ = 아

그래서 아에서는 ㅏ의 소리만 들립니다.
So in 아, you hear only the vowel sound.
