🔢 고유어 수 1~10 | Native Korean Numbers 1–10

한국어에는 두 가지 기본 숫자 체계가 있습니다. 11강에서는 일, 이, 삼과 같은 한자어 수를 배웠지요.

Korean has two main number systems. In Lesson 11, you learned Sino-Korean numbers such as 일, 이, 삼.

이번에는 물건이나 사람의 수를 셀 때 자주 사용하는 고유어 수를 배웁니다.

This time, you will learn native Korean numbers, which are commonly used for counting objects and people.

1 — 하나
2 — 둘
3 — 셋
4 — 넷
5 — 다섯
6 — 여섯
7 — 일곱
8 — 여덟
9 — 아홉
10 — 열

✨ 하나가 한 개가 되는 이유 | 하나 → 한 개

단위 명사 앞에서는 일부 숫자의 모양이 달라집니다.

Some native Korean numbers change form when they come before a counter.

하나 → 한
둘 → 두
셋 → 세
넷 → 네

한 개
두 개
세 개
네 개
다섯 개

그래서 하나 개가 아니라 한 개, 둘 개가 아니라 두 개라고 말합니다.
That is why Koreans say 한 개, not 하나 개, and 두 개, not 둘 개.

🧺 단위 명사 | Korean Counters

한국어에서는 무엇을 세느냐에 따라 다른 단위를 사용합니다.

Korean uses different counters depending on what you are counting.

🍎 개 — general counter for things
사과 두 개 — two apples

🥤 병 — bottle
물 두 병 — two bottles of water

☕ 잔 — cup / glass
커피 세 잔 — three cups of coffee

👤 명 — people
학생 네 명 — four students

처음부터 모든 단위를 외울 필요는 없습니다. 먼저 개, 병, 잔, 명처럼 자주 쓰는 단위부터 익혀 보세요.
You do not need to memorize every Korean counter at once. Start with common ones such as 개, 병, 잔, 명.

🧱 수량 표현을 만들어 봐요 | Build a Quantity Phrase

한국어에서는 보통 명사 + 숫자 + 단위 순서로 말합니다.

In Korean, the basic order is usually noun + number + counter.

사과 + 두 + 개
→ 사과 두 개

물 + 세 + 병
→ 물 세 병

커피 + 한 + 잔
→ 커피 한 잔

❓ 몇 개예요? | How Many?

수량을 모를 때는 몇을 사용합니다.

Use 몇 to ask about quantity.

A: 사과가 몇 개예요?
How many apples are there?

B: 세 개예요.
There are three.

A: 학생이 몇 명이에요?
How many students are there?

B: 네 명이에요.
There are four students.

💬 미니 대화 | Mini Dialogue

상황: 과일 가게에서 사과를 사고 있어요.
Situation: You are buying apples at a fruit shop.

👩 손님: 사과 주세요.
Apples, please.

👨 가게 직원: 몇 개 드릴까요?

🧩 문법 1｜숫자 + 단위 명사

물건의 수량을 말할 때는 고유어 수 뒤에 단위 명사를 붙입니다.

To express quantity, place the appropriate counter after the native Korean number.

사과 한 개
바나나 두 개
물 세 병
커피 네 잔
학생 다섯 명

숫자와 단위는 하나의 덩어리처럼 함께 익혀 두면 실제 대화에서 훨씬 쉽게 사용할 수 있습니다.
Learning the number and counter as one chunk makes them much easier to use in real conversation.

🧩 문법 2｜주세요

물건이나 음식을 요청할 때 주세요를 사용할 수 있습니다.

Use 주세요 when asking for an item, food, or drink.

물 주세요.
→ Water, please.

커피 주세요.
→ Coffee, please.

사과 두 개 주세요.
→ Two apples, please.

물 한 병 주세요.
→ One bottle of water, please.

초급 단계에서는 명사 + 수량 + 주세요를 하나의 실용적인 주문 패턴으로 익혀 두면 좋습니다.
At beginner level, it is useful to learn noun + quantity + 주세요 as a practical ordering pattern.

🔊 발음 | Pronunciation

주문할 때는 물건 이름과 수량을 자연스럽게 묶어서 말해 보세요.

When ordering, try to say the item and quantity as one natural phrase.

사과 두 개 / 주세요.

물 한 병 / 주세요.

커피 세 잔 / 주세요.

몇 개 / 주세요?

숫자를 너무 강하게 따로 끊기보다 두 개, 세 병, 한 잔을 한 덩어리처럼 연습해 보세요.
Practice 두 개, 세 병, 한 잔 as complete chunks rather than separating every word.

🇰🇷 진짜 한국어 | Real Korean

실제 가게나 카페에서는 이미 무엇을 사고 있는지 분명하면 물건 이름을 반복하지 않고 수량만 말하는 경우도 많습니다.

In a real shop or café, if the item is already clear, Koreans often answer with just the quantity.

👨 직원: 몇 개 드릴까요?
How many would you like?

👩 손님: 두 개 주세요.
Two, please.

☕ 직원: 몇 잔 드릴까요?
How many cups would you like?

👩 손님: 한 잔 주세요.
One, please.

몇 개 드릴까요?처럼 드릴까요?는 직원이 손님에게 정중하게 자주 사용하는 표현입니다.
In expressions such as 몇 개 드릴까요?, 드릴까요? is a polite form often used by staff when speaking to customers.

💡 문화 노트 | Culture Note

한국의 카페에서는 주문할 때 아메리카노 한 잔 주세요.처럼 말할 수 있습니다.

In a Korean café, you can order by saying something like 아메리카노 한 잔 주세요.

하지만 요즘은 키오스크나 모바일 앱으로 주문하는 곳도 많아서 실제로 직원과 길게 말하지 않는 경우도 많습니다.

Many cafés and restaurants also use kiosks or mobile ordering, so customers may not always have a long conversation with staff.

그래도 한 잔 주세요, 두 개 주세요 같은 표현은 시장, 카페, 가게 등 다양한 상황에서 매우 유용합니다.
Even so, expressions such as 한 잔 주세요 and 두 개 주세요 are extremely useful in markets, cafés, shops, and many other situations.
